Some good iOS game recommendations?

Hi!
So, I'm a gamer (I think). And, well, I really love fantasy/strategy games - or any game, really, except card or dice games because they bore me. Has anyone got any suggestions for ones on iOS? I've tried Lords and Knights and also Solara before, but I'm looking for some more. Thanks!

Post 2 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 14:45:56

Lords and nights is amazing! And salera is too! Hmm, ztouch is an arcade game kind of like bop it. It's fun. And, um, nebula is quite addicting! You try not to get killed and destroy other enemy space ship. Way to find it? look for a review by liam mervan. It might the second or third one in the app store I think. I have dice world but that might bore you. A fist full of pinguins is okay. Just got it yesterday. Yeah, pretty much all my games.

Post 3 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 15:14:32

Merci! :)

Post 4 by Juliet (move over school!) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 15:24:47

Oh wow, you say all your games, how many games do you have? lol

Post 5 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 16:25:47

Oh, I have dice world, a fist full of pinguins, um, baby adopter, (it's so boring), lords and nights, solera, nebula, and, my baby sim. that's it.

Post 6 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 17:00:57

Aww baby sim? I've heard of that one. Hmm... Which company does Nebula?

Post 7 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 17:04:51

I forgot. I might have to Skype you the answer. :d

Post 8 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 17:18:39

That's cool! :)

Post 9 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 28-Sep-2015 20:44:04

Have you played sixth sense? Just go to the app store, type blind games and you'll find it. But, it's kind of creepy though. :)

Post 10 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 1:51:35

:D Not as creepy as Papa Sangre!

Post 11 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 10:37:42

oh boy. I'm glad I don't have it cuz it like costs 2 u.s dollars here. And audio defense sounds just... scarry!

Post 12 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 11:04:53

Well all I play is dice and card games, and I don't even play those as often as I used to, so I am not a lot of help. LOL But there are plenty of good accessible card game apps out there.

Post 13 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 12:10:06

sure are. :)

Post 14 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 13:05:13

I don't know why card games don't appeal to me, but ah well!

Post 15 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 16:15:42

there is a game I got but don't know how to play it. It's blindfold domino.

Post 16 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 19:29:46

I haven't played too many games on the Iphone. That said, Papa Sangre wasn't bad. It had a lot of potential. Blindness, or maybe it was Blindside, that's another non-visual adventure game. Apparently it's pretty decent as well, though I haven't tried it. The Inquisitor proves that traditional point and click adventure game4s can be made accessible, and it's worth a look. There's also Signis, a sort of spy thriller choose your own adventure game. Also has a lot of potential. Nightjar is similar to Papa Sangre, but I haven't tried it.

Post 17 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 19:44:34

do you know if Nightjar is free in U.S?

Post 18 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 29-Sep-2015 20:16:49

Two years ago, when I looked, I couldn't even find it in the US/Canadian App Store. I haven't look4ed lately however. Still, it's a game that probably took quite a bit of production to make. I doubt it would be free. The blind gamer market is already pretty lacking.

Post 19 by Batman413 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 30-Sep-2015 15:43:12

I bought the nightjar recently, you can get that, plus Papa Sangre both parts one and two for ten bucks. Ten bucks for 3 games isn't bad at all.

Post 20 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 30-Sep-2015 16:52:56

oh

Post 21 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 02-Oct-2015 13:48:45

Yes, I love the Nightjar! Though, saying that, I always fail quite spectacularly whenever I try to play. I think King of Dragon Pass is quite good; I quit after a while though (no idea why).

Post 22 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 04-Oct-2015 19:17:54

do you have godville? I do and well, let's just say I love it! If anyone has it, my gild is Harvest Moon. The most popular. If anyone wants to add me as a friend, my goddess name is Musiclover123.

Post 23 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 07-Oct-2015 14:38:10

Sure! I'll have a look at it

my heroine's name is AdelF. pretty random. :d

Post 26 by Gong jhoo (Generic Zoner) on Friday, 09-Oct-2015 9:11:00

Also yall check out a blind legend at the app store. It is a free audio game for now.

Post 27 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 09-Oct-2015 11:35:33

I'll have a look; thanks so much!

Post 28 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 09-Oct-2015 18:40:55

I just got it yesterday! :) it's awesome! I just can't get beyond whare he goes to the forges. it cleses after I finish that level. :(

Post 29 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Sunday, 18-Oct-2015 3:16:41

I haven't played many I device games but I enjoy Trivia Crack, Dice world and blindfold racer. That one is sort of a fantasy game which involves driving. It was made by a school, so the voice used for the narrative parts of the game is a young girl, but I think it's fun.

Post 30 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 18-Oct-2015 3:25:52

I've played most of the games listed here. My only problem is that I beat
them, and then that's it. Not a lot of replay value in audio games. Like, Audio
Defense is a great game, as long as there's levels, but all the levels have been
finished, and now I just get to shoot zombies. That's no fun. I wish there were
more challenging games that would keep my attention, but so far I haven't
found any. Anyone have any ideas?

Post 31 by ApplePeaches (If the zone bbs was a drug, I'd need rehab.) on Sunday, 18-Oct-2015 3:28:24

Trivia crack, dice world, and true or false are good ones that I play.

Post 32 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 19-Oct-2015 10:44:59

I like trivia crack but dice world is waaaay better. True or false? huh? might look into that.

Post 33 by Frozen Teardrop (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 18-Nov-2015 16:45:01

there is also audio rally racer. way better than blindfold racer. then again, i don't
like any of the blindfold games, at all.

Post 34 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Thursday, 19-Nov-2015 14:15:48

I recently got this one... blindfold hockey. it's so boring so I deleted it the
next day. lol

Post 35 by Frozen Teardrop (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 19-Nov-2015 17:33:44

i've said it before and i'll say it again. if they focus on quality over quantity, the
games would be actually worth playing

Post 36 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 20-Nov-2015 11:38:24

I tried King of Dragon Pass again, and I THINK I like it?

Post 37 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Friday, 20-Nov-2015 12:19:45

Cody I'm enjoying Blind Legend. Maybe it's an age thing, I just find the replay value in these games has to do with being able to beat each level at the first try if I can.
I'm less than half the gamer most of you are, I bet.
I have Audio Racer for the Mac, where you race spaceships, and even with a game controller I can't even beat the first level.
I've beaten Papa Sangre a few times, but to me the ultimate experience would be beat every level first time and rescue everybody while I was at it.
Have yet to beat Papa Sangre II or Audio Defense.
Once I work my way through Blind Legend I'll probably try and play through it more times to beat every level first time every time.

But, as I said, I'm probably less than half the gamer most you whare who grew up with audio games.
I used to love Shades of Doom and Tank Commander, the reason they never wore out on me is I never could even beat the easy levels first time every time. And they had difficulty settings.
Even that game Battle Zone, some kid on this site wrote a few years ago. I had a lot of fun with that one for awhile.

Now my personal pC is a mac, so lots of those I can't do anymore. That, and I've done a lot more with iOS games also.

Anyway a bit of a ramble but I'm guessing some of your problem is an age thing, you grew up playing this shit so you're better than us old farts. Lol.

Post 38 by Juliet (move over school!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2015 20:27:39

I love blind legend; right now though, I'm stuck at the part where we're at the
point where we're on the icy cliff and either have trouble getting across it
because the rocks are shifting or the ice cracks on a constant basis, or if I
manage to finally get across, I sometimes have trouble managing to kill the
dogs that are coming at me. And forget the part afterwards where I come to
the point where the 2 thieves start taunting me, and I have to react at just the
right time, I've never been able to get that down, so have given up on it for the
moment.
Aside from that, I've tried my hand at trivia crack kingdoms, which I have a
love/hate relationship with, sense I have to toggle voiceover on and off a lot,
and it tells me I have 2 power up's, but have no idea how to find them or what
to do with them, and have no idea how to find out how many crowns I have, so
it doesn't appear to be all that accessible, unless someone knows of a
workaround for it.

Post 39 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2015 21:08:42

I do not like trivia crack at all. and, that level is prety hard! but, I'm good at
it. Juliete, if you want we could skype and I could show you what to do from
there.

Post 40 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 11:07:44

Hmm, gonna have a go at Blind Legend :) See what it's about.

Post 41 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 11:29:29

You'll love it, ellie! :) it's amazing. I just need some working headsets and I'm
good. :)

Post 42 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 12:16:28

I'm at the city in
Blind Legends where you're supposed to get to the dungeons. I can kill the guards, but getting through the back streets and not getting run down by the next troop of guards is really tricky. Haven't passed that.

Post 43 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 13:54:18

I was in that level too, leo. I don't know what to do after I kill the guards.

Post 44 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 19:51:22

I've played audio defense a few times, but I can never get past that one level in the training, where you have to kill the zombies and the little things that you get the diamonds from.

Post 45 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 20:13:38

Basically, in a blind legend, for the majority of the game, you just follow the sound of your daughter's voice. The landscapes are pretty wide open, and while it's easy to get turned around, a quick tap will have you centered again. I really liked the potential of this game. And, at least they tried with a somewhat cohesive narrative. I'd have loved to have more banter between he and his sister while traversing to flesh it out a olittle. It would have made it more interesting, and given us an easier means of keeping track of the little whiner without having her lead us constantly calling to us. To be fair, I did like how, in more stealthy sections the actress did use a stage whisper.

Leo, in the city, there are times where you have to either hurry, or remain still and wait for the guards to go by. I got stuck there for a bit too.

Also, did anyone find the easter egg hidden in the game. I can't recall which level it was in, but when you find it, you'll know because it's just so ... out there.

Post 46 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 20:14:58

Has anybody actually tried the inquisitor? To me, it's a clear demonstration that mainstream games of its type - of which there are a great many - can be made accessible. It's not perfect, but it tries. I think it's even got the same voice actor as A Blind Legend.

Post 47 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 20:36:25

nope. it's not free. :( if it was free, i would try it.

Post 48 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 20:38:32

I'm afraid, at least in most cases, when it comes to free games, you really do get what you pay for. Despite my issues with a Blind Legend, I'd call that the exception to the rool. Though that game adheres more to the "free to play" market in that it encorporates microtransactions to save you time. Though if you're patient and careful, you don't really need to worry about that.

Post 49 by GreyWaves (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 05-Dec-2015 15:13:36

Inquisitor is the REALLY expensive one, right? Or is that something else?

Post 50 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-Dec-2015 16:47:13

No, it's true, it really is the expensive one. Think I got it for 20 bucks or so if I recall. Though considering most games o its type in the manstream world retail for around that amount, that's not so bad. That said, I'm not sure if they're selling the entire season for that price. It's an episodic game. So far I know two episodes are out. The game type and production is still a step in the right direction.

Post 51 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-Dec-2015 17:58:33

If I bought it, I'd hope it was better than that spy game Codename Sigma or
watever it was called. From the description it sounded like you played this spy,
and got to control it with the microphone, but really its just a text game read
out to you. I was sadly disapointed.

Post 52 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 0:49:29

I agree Cody. The concept sounded good. I'm alright with choice based narrative games, but this one was ... narratively bland. ANd for a game that's all about narrative, that's not encouraging. Same went for Grail to the Thief. Simply an audio text adventure, but it had potential as well. Unfortunately the story, writing and especially protagonist - one of the most unlikable and non funny characters I've ever experienced - fell very, very flat. To be fair, I've probably been spoiled by the narrative quality of mainstream gaming, which is getting pretty suffisticated.

Post 53 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 0:51:44

Still, as far as games "designed with the blind in mind " go, the Inquisitor isn't too bad from what I played. At least it was on the right track.

Post 54 by Juliet (move over school!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 15:25:08

That's something I love about a blind legend, it's not only free, but has a
narrative of some sort all through it, but you actually have to do stuff, not just
tap/dictate to your phone what you want to do, and it does all the work for you.
I finally made it passed that level, and had to climb the mountains, that led to
something that made a really weird sound, that just came without warning that
I had to fend off several times, and am now at some point where I'm having to
try to get to a cave, which I can't seem to find, because we're just walking
along, and I suddenly hear footsteps beside me, and then collapse, so have no
idea how to avoid that.

Post 55 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 15:44:04

with A Blind Legend I wish you could play standing up, turning your body instead of having to do that swipe thing. Because I found that very realistic when Papa Sangre II did it, and that's a game I need to finish lol

Post 56 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 18:06:08

I will say that as far as sound design goes, A Blind Legend is actually pretty decent. Though I found the one random F word in there way out of place; used well in context, but I barely remember even much light cursing throughout the rest of the game. Some of the creature sounds in particular are pretty well done. Despite nobody saying what anything is, you could really get a sense of what you were fighting. That one plant creature, the only one in the game in fact stands out to me for that reason.

Juliette, I can't recall the specific part you're at, but literally if you follow your daughter you can't go wrong. Occasionally deviating away from the path, towards other interesting sounds might yield some little secret discoveries, but for the most part, it's a huge expanse in which you're guided by your daughter. As for random footsteps, sometimes there are guard patrols. When you hear them, you either need to stay still until they path, or run towards your daughter.

Post 57 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 18:08:29

Leo, that would be a nice little feature. Turning really does seem stilted at times. I don't think I'd want it mandatory, but an option would be nice.

Post 58 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 07-Dec-2015 18:20:25

I do agree the game is very very nice.
I'll probably finish it once I'm off for Christmas and after getting all the final stuff done like assembling the new Ikea furniture She just ordered lol

Post 59 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 30-Apr-2016 22:11:36

I have most of the blindfold games. I have some of the maverick games like cupcakes, more breakfast, more noodles, more popcorn, more sundaes, holiday dinner, more blender and more grillin. I have dice world premium video poker and blackjack. I don't play trivia crack but I play Kingdoms. I have a blind legend but I'm stuck at scene 10 and I keep falling off the cliff. I have audio hub which has a few games in the same menu like archery, hunt memory blocks slot machines and a few more. I have a few text based games like super-star band manager which is a music simulater, football chairman and alter ego. My baby sim. I had baby adopter but I took it off my phone and also I have accessible fruit machine. those are the games that I could remember from the top of my head but I have more. when I remember the rest I will post them.

Post 60 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 01-May-2016 5:46:53

Games i've either tried or currently play include: Dice World, iAssociate 2, a bunch of blindfold games like hopper and pinball. BTW, type in the word blindfold in the app store's search edit box and you'll see them in the results.
I haven't played Papa Sangre in ages. I haven't even beaten the first Papa Sangre game yet, but have started the second one..
There's supposed to be this one game called Escape the House. I got it but am not sure exactly how to play it.
I've also gotten this game called Inquisitor's heartbeat. I want to get my hands on any sequels to it if they exist.
I got bored with a blind legend, and sixth sense reached a point where there were too many damned zombies coming at me at once and I couldn't fire or switch weapons fast enough. so the novelty wore off fairly quickly. Speaking of zombie games, there was one that came out last year called ... um ... I think it's audio defense. Got it and lost interest quickly, but may play again if it still works as I.O.S. gets updated.
There's this game called soul trapper, but not sure if you can find that or even if it works under I.O.S 9.3. I also have played Solara, my baby sim, lost cities, (another card game), diamond dash, and hanging with friends. that last one is basically hangman, but you can challenge friends from facebook to games.
The blindfold games are very customizable and Voiceover reads all elements on the screen.
Baby adoptor is ridiculously boring, as is little girl magic. very, very unrealistic representation of infant care, even if it is virtual. You'd be better off getting My Baby Sim.
Would love to find out about any pet-care-related games, if anyone knows of stuff like that.
Still trying to get the hang of playing Lords and Knights.
I hope this was useful.

Post 61 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 01-May-2016 5:47:58

addig to my previous post, not sure if some of the games I mentioned are available outside the US. Oh, and I've also played The NightJar, too.

Post 62 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 01-May-2016 5:52:38

and I see people have mentioned trivia crack. Has anyone tried Trivia crack kingdoms yet? I'll get it once I've got enough space on my phone.

Post 63 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 01-May-2016 18:06:37

for the pet games I forgot to mention i have hatchi. you have to take care of a pet monster. its 99 cents and very accessible. You don't hear pet sounds but its like a pet-keychain so when you play you hear beaps. and i have a dark room, future fate which is a strategy kind of game but still learning to play and i play kingdoms and is has been made very accessible which is a million times better than the real trivia crack game. I had escape the house but that game is very borring i could never figure it out. I also have cribbage pro and hangman.

Post 64 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 02-May-2016 11:48:35

I had kingdoms. I deleted it though accidently while trying to delete one of
my nephew's games... :p lol, anyways, username on there is just Marilyn. I
haven't tried out hangman, or kribage. but, I'll try them out. I did play Sixth
sense until mom saw it and made me delete it. so much for keeping screen
curtain on. :d

Post 65 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 7:32:24

Never played cribbage.
One game I forgot to mention is solara. They need to add more levels to that, or at least let you start all over again if you want to rebuild your castle if they're not going to continue updating.

Post 66 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 9:14:12

I recently discovered a new game called fallen London. Its kind of a
steampunk meets victorian london rpg. You can play as practically anything, and
you play out stories to build up different attribtues. Its your basic rpg game, but
it has a lot of wit to it. The controls do take a bit of getting used to on the
iphone, but with some practice you can do it. You can also play it online and its
much easier on that platform. All in all I'd give it a good rating for
entertainment.

Post 67 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 10:57:10

is the game free, cody?

Post 68 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 12:48:54

Yes, though you can pay if you choose to to get more stuff, like most games.
but the game itself is free to play. And when I say that, I mean its actually free
to play,a s in you can fully enjoy the game without paying. Not like blindfold
where they call it free to play, but only for about an hour ro so.

Post 69 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 14:55:03

Salara has been removed from the app store. and I had stem stumper and I took it off and a few months later when I was looking for it it was also removed along with spellstack which I never got to play. the developers abandoned it.

Post 70 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 11-May-2016 22:32:44

I forgot to mention a game that I have. its an adult game with no sound. Its called superstud adventures. You have to seduce 3 girls. But what you do with the 1st girl won't work with the other. You have to type in 2 word commands like go north or go east or just west. Its a nice game but I never finished it. plus its free.

Post 71 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Thursday, 12-May-2016 8:12:19

They got rid of stem stumper and spellstack? Awww. I mean, I have those in my library, so I hope spellstack will work with I O S ... whatever the hell version we're up to now.

Post 72 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 12-May-2016 15:35:21

I don't know if it will still work but some people said the servers are still up. I never played spellstack. I wish they should have a place in the app store for abandoned games in case someone would want to get it and try out for a while. I never had the inquisitors heartbeat but I heard people wasn't finding it in the app store so they probably took that one down as well. So much games are going.

Post 73 by pinkstrawberry (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 12-May-2016 18:25:57

I got another game called robo e.its $1.99. I'm still learning to play. its a kind of puzzle where you control a robo guy I think and you have to get him to push the ball over the rings. that's my description. but if anyone wants to check it out just type in robo e in the app store. I've heard and tried playing it on my friend's IPhone. she has the money, I
don't. :p I wish I had it. If you think Sixth sense is scary, think again. lol, why
is the doctor's name doctor bastard? cracks me up! lol

I think audio defence is much more scarier than sixthsense. I trying to get through one of the challenges with the shutgun. I hate when the gun takes forever to load.

I got another game yesterday freeq. I'm still learning how to play. This game is about messing with people's lives and listening to conversations. something along those lines.

I found that game quite strange.

You better enjoy Audio Defence while you can. The developer has stopped development for the game since they had issues trying to kink out bugs after every new IOS update.

Personally I found audio defense easy. it was entertaining for a while, but the
challenges were never that difficult. The accuracy ones sometimes took me a try
or two, but that's about it. I never found it scary at all.

I'm still playing in challenge mode. I didn't unlock all yet. The farting zombies is the next to unlocked. lol
